PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
The Trinamool Congress leader who was killed in Hooghly district, was done so in a pre-planned attack reportedly carried out by contract killers. Police investigation has revealed that the murder was executed for ₹3 lakh. Two shooters from North 24 Parganas—Biswajit Pramanik from Shasan and Deepak Mandal from Barasat—were allegedly hired for the task.
According to the investigation, Kanaipur resident Bishwanath Das alias ‘Bisha’ had a dispute over land dealings with the deceased leader. Police say Das paid ₹3 lakh to the two accused shooters to eliminate the leader. Two days before the murder, the shooters arrived at Das’s residence and conducted a recce of the area. On the day of the incident, they attacked the leader with a sharp weapon, resulting in his death. After the murder, they walked a short distance before fleeing on a scooter to the nearest railway station.
CCTV footage collected from the area reportedly captured the recce, the murder, and the escape. During reconnaissance, the accused were seen speaking on mobile phones. Police used mobile tower location data to trace their movements, even though the phones were later switched off. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
